7 ways you can use tantra principles to get rid of fear

Fear is one of the many emotions humans can experience. While no one wants to feel fearful, there are times in life where we can’t help it. External or internal situations can arise that can make you anxious and strike terror in your heart. Since this emotion can lead to a sea of detrimental changes in your mind and body, you should take steps to deal with fear as quickly as possible. This is where tantra can come to the rescue.

When you are going through fear, what happens is that your energies and awareness contract into a very small bubble. This narrows your perception and you fail to see a way out of your predicament. Tantra, on the other hand, is all about enhancing your awareness and establishing a connection with the subtle consciousness that pervades everything in existence. This connection gets you out of your bubble and starts making your vibrational frequencies more intense, thus making your fear go away.

Seven ways you can use Tantric principles to get rid of fear:

1) Become aware of your conditioning

Growing up, each one of us gets conditioned in a certain way by the people around us, the environment we are exposed to, and the experiences we have. Sometimes, it might be that your conditioning makes you more prone to being fearful. If that’s the case, you need to first be aware of how your mind has been shaped.

To do this, you need to come face to face with your core being. This will take some pondering and introspection, and will require you to spend some alone time with yourself. One important facet of Tantra is to foster relationships and since the most important relationship you have is with yourself, you can use this practice to truly understand your various attributes.

2) Don’t resist fear

Tantra deals with energy and Tantrics know how to work with the energy to achieve their desired result. One principle that is always understood in Tantra is that you shouldn’t resist any particular form of energy or vibration. As wise people have said: “what you resist, persists”.

So, it only makes sense for you to not resist fear. This may sound counter-intuitive and counterproductive, but it will deliver results. Suddenly, you will no longer fear the state of fear. You will be able to let it pass through you unhindered and it won’t stay in your system. It might take a little practice to get to a place where you don’t feel the need to resist fear. But doing so will be worth it.

3) Do guided meditations

Meditation is a spiritual practice that calms your mind and regulates the flow of energy in your system. Guided meditation can help when fear has gripped you. This is because your energies can become very unstable and your vibrational frequencies spiral down. This can do a lot of harm to your physical, mental, and emotional health.

With guided meditation, however, you are gently nudged into improving the energy flow. The guide is usually proficient at meditation and can help you deal with your fear. There are many guided meditation videos available on the internet- find the one that works best for you.

4) Practice mindfulness to get grounded

Like meditation, mindfulness is also an ancient spiritual practice, but it has a specific purpose. It is done to bring your attention to the present moment. This may not sound like much, but it is one of the most powerful practices that you can instill in your life. It can change your relationship to life itself.

By tying your consciousness to the present moment, mindfulness effectively grounds you. A grounded person cannot be affected by emotions such as fear because they have achieved stillness within. Make mindfulness a part of your daily life and your constant companion, regardless of the activity you do.

5) Activate and balance your manipura (navel) chakra

There are seven main chakras in the human body and each one governs certain aspects of your physical and emotional health. When it comes to fear, the governing chakra is the manipura chakra. This is why when you feel fearful, it often affects your stomach area.

To keep fear away from your life, you can activate and balance your manipura chakra. This will make sure the energy keeps flowing freely and it doesn’t stagnate at any point. Stagnant energy leads to all sorts of troubles, including a much more exaggerated effect of fear than usual.

6) Transform your emotion

Tantrics are highly proficient in converting one form of energy to the other and is one of the core pillars of Tantra. You could also apply the same principles to deal with fear. The moment you feel like fear is gripping you, you can instantly choose to focus on the opposite emotions, such as trust or love.

This transformation will require you to put your trust in the divine energy. You need to develop an unshakeable faith that things happen for the greater good. Accept that if something bad has happened or is poised to happen in your life, you will come out stronger because of it.

7) Do responsible Karma

Last, but certainly not least, is karma. Tantra puts a lot of focus on karma and that your life is largely dictated by the type of karma you have accumulated in the past. If you want to deal with fear, you need to continue to do responsible karma, instead of spiraling down a negative path. Good karma will eventually make your life much happier and joyous, and instances of fear will be greatly reduced.
