The Best Kept Secret to Change the World

A perfect world seems Utopian and each of us has an idea of what perfection should be like. The thought of what an ideal world ‘ought’ to look like is something that crosses our minds whenever we come across injustice, inequality and unfairness. The question is, will the world suddenly read our mind and change itself overnight into this wonderfully amazing place? Not likely!

The onus is upon all of us, to participate in an active way to change the world into a better place.

We cannot limit our efforts by the sheer magnitude of the task at hand. The world, after all, is a huge place, and trying to make an impact can seem daunting. Do not feel overwhelmed; remember every little gesture towards a better world counts. Start with the easiest point of reference – your own self.

To quote Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”.

Making a move towards a better world starts with each individual. The aim is to try and become the best versions of who we can be, and to inspire the next generation to become better people too. In fact a lot of self-development modules run by InnerCamp focus on this very aspect; namely to become the best version of ourselves and thus spread positivity and good cheer among those we come in contact with over our lifetimes.

Be kind and caring

Being kind and caring never costs anyone anything. We often come across instances where we find ourselves needing some help or a bit of understanding. We are lucky if there is a kind word to guide us or even a pat on the back to lift our sagging spirits. Long after that low moment passes, we remember that unknown person with gratitude. Pass on this feeling to someone else and make the world a better place.

Strive for self-development

At InnerCamp we firmly believe in the need to love oneself first before reaching out to the world. And loving oneself means looking after one’s physical and mental needs, aiming for positivity and working towards becoming the best version of who we are. A happy and confident person will automatically radiate positivity, touch lives and are the best people to spread goodwill and endeavour to create a better world.

Look after the environment

The world we see around us is not only about us. It is also about the environment. In fact, if we wish for future generations to thrive, grow and be disease-free, we must put the environment first, over everything else. The human population continues to increase and there is havoc being wrought upon the flora, fauna, the air we breathe, and precious natural resources. Loving the planet and being party to its revival and rejuvenation is the best gift we can give to future generations.

Save water

Along with the environment, water is a precious resource that humans cannot survive without. It is predicted that there will come a time when wars will be fought over water. This is certainly not what we want to bequeath upon our children and the world in general. Each drop saved is precious and this message needs to be understood right now. Start with yourself and set an example for others to follow.

Help others

One must never let go of an opportunity to help others. There is way too much misery and disparity in the world. Can you put yourself in the other person’s shoes for a while? You are bound to realize how blessed and abundant your own circumstances are. Reaching out and empathizing with others is a wonderful example to set for your family and friends, and is a legacy that will create more generous and giving human beings.

Kind acts leave an impact that is way more effective than any material wealth one can accumulate or give away. A kind word and a helping hand stay in people’s minds and give them courage and mental strength to overcome their situations, and create a body of people who will pass on the goodness. The environment and our natural resources will take their time to reflect our good deeds but we will leave behind a healthier planet for our families and future generations to inherit and cherish.
