Week 12. Quality Relationships: Authenticity Copy

“Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.” ~ Brené Brown

As children, we learn to sacrifice authenticity for connection. Our sense of self, our sense of life, depends on the latter. We then find ourselves doing the same later in life, in our adult relationships.

  1. Can you remember the first time that you decided to shut up, to play small, to behave for the FOMO (fear of missing out)?
  2. Look into your life as an adult (currently) and notice if there is any area of your life where you still sacrifice authenticity for connection and belonging. What is your deepest fear underlying this pattern/behavior?
