Origins
Conscious connected breathing is not one method but a shared technique, popularised from the 1970s through Rebirthing and since used in many modern styles.
The Holosomatic® Method was created by Alexis Alcalá and is taught by InnerCamp, founded in 2018.
Technique
In conscious connected breathwork the breath flows in a continuous circle, with no pause between in-breath and out-breath. Pace and depth vary from style to style.
Holosomatic® Breathwork teaches five conscious connected techniques and combines them with sound, music, affirmations, visualisation and pranayama. In the full Holosomatic® Method the breath is one of four layers, alongside bodywork, energy activation and manifestation.
Session format
Conscious connected sessions are held one-to-one or in groups, and the format depends on the school or facilitator.
Holosomatic® sessions are guided from start to finish, lying down with music through wireless headphones. InnerCamp's live Holosomatic® Experience workshops last three and a half to four hours, and certified facilitators hold one-to-one and group sessions.
Intensity
Any connected breathing can bring strong sensations and emotions. In a Holosomatic® session you can slow down or rest at any point, and grounding techniques are taught so you can regulate your own experience. Read the contraindications before you take part.
Training path
Conscious connected breathwork trainings vary widely in length, content and recognition, so compare live practice, safety training and accreditation carefully.
The Holosomatic® Breathwork Facilitator Training is a 300-hour certification over 4 months, online or hybrid near Málaga, with 300 CPD credits and CMA accreditation. Online editions cost €2,250 to €2,500 and hybrid editions cost €3,250 to €3,500.
